Since my last post I've been hitting the large mouth quite well. Top-water fishing is my favorite way to fish I usually use a 3 1/2" Jointed rapala, but I'm starting to try different methods, plastic worms; spinnerbaits; non-top water lures, etc. Seems like the worst days (Overcast, windy, Choppy, Muddy, weedy water) seem to be producing the best bites on my Jointed rapala, in fact maybe a week or two after my original post I nailed two 16" walleye at the yacht club. and last week (under the same conditions) caught a 16" largey. My question to all who fish Chautauqua lake, is how and when to fish a popper. I bought a hula-popper when i was younger and have always wanted to catch something with it, and last night i only caught one tiny rock bass with it :( . Someone help lol and btw, whoever is spamming this site is stupid. Go spam little girls on myspace or something. Dont ruin a good site. |

Per the outdoorsniagara.com (Bill Hilt) website, target walleye on warners bar and down at Driftwood in 8' of water slowly trolling worm harnesses. The walleye bite will pick up as water temps improve. Crappie and perch are still biting strong in the shallows on minnows. Try any shallow water or inlet for nice crappies. Was out last 2 weekends and KILLED 'em. All nice (10"-12") size. Love this site too. Game On.. & Good luck to all.. |

We didn't see too many Walleyes brought in here to We Wan Chu Cottages over this past Walleye Opening Weekend (May 2nd) but we did see a lot of people catching Crappies and Perch. My son Justin & I caught 12 nice size Crappies Sunday night from 7:30 - 8:30 P.M. off of our dock using minnows. They were all 10 to 13 inches and made some nice sized filets for dinner tonight. We have seen and heard of a lot of Bass being caught & released as well as a number of Muskies... Muskies jump on a floater Rappala all the time while fishing for Walleyes in early May... Not bad Fishing at all... |

Fishing from the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club started at around 6 fishing with worms caught mostly Sunfish and Rock Bass til just about sunset saw a bunch of little Largemouth bass so i decided to put on a brown 3 1/2" Jointed rapala. Worked like a charm, caught lots of bass, not too big 12" and under but i just love the excitement of topwater fishing. Plan to go back tonight (April 28th) if the weather holds, will report later tonight. P.S. Love the site!! |

Welcome to Chautauqua Lake's 2009 Fishing Season... As host of this Web Site, I invite all Chautauqua Lake Fishermen to give it up as to where, when, how deep and what they were using to catch Fish. This past weekend (April 23rd - 26th, 2009) we Opend for the Season and had four Cottages fishing for Perch & Crappies. Two Cottages with seven men caught hundreds of Perch and Crappies (all within their daily allowed limits) using minnows. Where I don't know. Another Cottage with four men also caught hundreds of Perch & Crappies... My eight year old son also caught a basket full of Perch right off of our Dock which we ate Sunday evening.. It was an Awesome Weekend of Fishing here on Chautauqua Lake... Enjoy... |
